Frequently asked questions

What is a Gabion? (Also Called a Rock Cage)

A gabion is a heavy-duty welded steel cage filled with local rocks — sometimes called a rock cage, stone cage, or welded rock basket. We build them right here at Rock Springs Village using our own custom jigs so they’re stronger, more beautiful, and perfectly suited for Arizona backyards, patios, pools, and retaining needs.

No assembly required — just drop the fully welded unit where you want it, fill with local desert rock (free or cheap), and you’re done. They’re the same rock-filled solution that has been used for erosion control and landscaping for centuries, but we make them premium, desert-optimized, and ready to use the same day you pick them up.

Are the units fully welded and assembled?

Yes — every gabion (rock cage) is fully welded in our shop. No loose panels, no on-site assembly, no tools needed beyond filling with rock. You get a professional, shop-built product that is ready to place and fill the same day.

Can I really pick up the same day?

Absolutely. If we have stock (most popular sizes usually do), you can pick up the same day at our shop:
35942 S Old Black Canyon Hwy
(Inside Rock Springs Village, Black Canyon City, AZ)

Bring your truck or trailer — everything is built and ready to load. Call or text ahead if you want help loading.

Do you ship outside Arizona?

Yes. We ship fully welded rock cages / gabions nationwide on pallets. Local pickup at Rock Springs Village is always free and fastest, but we can quote shipping for any size order. Just add the items to your cart on getyourgabion.com or call us.

Will they blow over in wind or monsoons?

No. A filled 25″×25″×25″ base holds 1,500+ lbs of rock. Once filled with local desert rock, these are among the most stable outdoor structures you can own in Arizona. They’re designed for our exact conditions — high winds, flash floods, and shifting soils.

Do you offer wholesale pricing for landscapers and GCs?

Yes. Fill out the application using the partner portal link to get started.

Can I fill them with something other than rock?

Yes — though local desert rock looks best and is free/cheap. You can use river rock, recycled glass, or even colored stone for a custom look. We can also recommend drop-ship rock partners if you don’t want to source it yourself.

Do you install for customers?

No — we focus 100 % on premium fabrication so you (or your landscaper) can install fast and affordably. Everything is designed for quick, tool-free placement once filled.
